TERM: 

The InterConnections 21 International Photo Contest begins on June 23 and ends on July 14 at 11:59 PM MST. Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.

All categories are open to students (age 18 and under) and adults (age 19 and older) who are residents of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and surrounding communities. Individuals affiliated with InterConnections 21, including current and former employees, board members, and their immediate families (children, parents, siblings and spouses) and others living in their households are not eligible for any prize. The independent panel of judges will determine winners’ eligibility in its sole discretion.

ETHICS: 

The welfare of a subject and its environment is of utmost importance. Contest entrants certify that all humans and animals in photos were treated with respect and dignity, and that no people, wildlife or the environment were harmed in creating a photograph. Where applicable, entrants must have obtained explicit permission from subjects prior to taking photos.

Entrants must disclose any use of special equipment such as camera traps and drones. Baiting of wildlife is not permitted.

PHOTO SUBMISSIONS: 

Photographers may submit a maximum of one photo in each category. Photos should be submitted in .jpeg or .jpg format and be less than 20 MB in size. Photo files should be named “Title – Photographer Name” (with the appropriate substitutions).

CATEGORIES:

1. Natural Environment: Landscapes, wildlife, geologic features.
2. Social/Cultural: People, culture, society.
3. Built Environment: Modern or historic architecture e.g. pyramids, Great Wall, cityscapes.
   

Photos may be taken internationally or locally while showcasing distinctly international connections and/or traditions taking place in the Jackson Hole region.

All photos must be original work taken by the entrants. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains, and the photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person. To maintain fairness in judging, watermarks are not allowed.

Photo enhancement (i.e. adjustments to color, brightness, and HDR processing) is permitted. Photo manipulation (i.e. adding, moving, or removing objects from photos) is NOT allowed. Violators will be removed from the contest, stripped of any prize(s), and banned from entering future contests.

Entries will not be accepted unless submitted via the official contest channel. Entries not submitted through the proper channel will be deleted.

JUDGING:

Entries will be subjectively judged by an independent panel of judges. The panel of judges includes Pulitzer Prize winner David Hume Kennerly, pioneering conservationist Robert Glenn Ketchum, and local bilingual artist Lina Collado.

Photo entries will be judged based on creativity, quality, originality, and overall impact. All decisions are final. InterConnections 21 reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules. The winner will be contacted via the email address provided. If no response is received after five business days, a new winner will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize.

PRIZES:

Prizes will be awarded for winners and honorable mentions in each category for students (age 18 and under) and adults (age 19 and over). Winners will receive an 11” x 14” metal print of their photograph. The prize must be collected by the winner and is non transferable.

ONLINE AND PRINT FEATURES:

InterConnections 21 may select photos for highlight on its website and social media accounts or display in a publicly accessible contest archive. Winning photos may be printed and displayed in a public gallery in or around Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Such selections will be made in InterConnections 21’s sole discretion. By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by InterConnections 21 for advertising purposes. Entrants grant to InterConnections 21 a nonexclusive license to reproduce and publish the image(s) in printed and/or electronic form for promotional purposes only.

CONDITIONS:

The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. InterConnections 21 reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion.
