JH Glocals Program Goes Virtual
Amidst a global pandemic, a sudden switch to online learning, and the stress of college-level exams week, this May our local students still found time to learn from another culture at our first ever virtual JH Glocals (“global locals”) event. Dr. Alina Lobacheva, a Russian doctor and professor who has lived in Jackson for 10 years, presented online to students from the JH High School UN Club and the JH Community School Model UN team.
Dr. Lobacheva showed the students, through photos and stories, what life was like growing up in the socialist USSR. Additionally, she discussed the differences in current medical systems in the U.S. and Russia and how those practices affected each country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The virtual JH Glocals program exposes local students to different ways of thinking through exchanges with local residents who are from all over the world. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, contact lindsey@ic21.org.
