InterConnections 21

Hot Planet / Cool Athletes

An Educational Experience on Climate Change and Sustainability

February 14 - 18, 2012

InterConnections 21 will be partnering with the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE) and Protect Our Winters (POW) to bring a fun and engaging climate change education program to schools across the Tetons. Professional winter athletes will be teaming up with climate educators to present on the adverse affect of climate change on snow driven economies like the greater Jackson Hole region.

The Alliance Against Climate Change (AACC), a student run group at Jackson Hole High School, will use this assembly to jump start a program called Green My Parents that motivates students to reduce energy consumption in their homes. By signing a contact with their parents students will be entitled to half the money saved through their energy conservation efforts. Lower Valley Energy is partnering with the AACC to make this program possible.

In addition, the Jackson Hole Energy Sustainability Plan (JHESP) and the Yellowstone-Teton Clean Energy Coalition will be providing outlets for students who wish to become more involved in taking action to promote a sustainable future for Jackson Hole.
